Howdy, Does any other carb work nicely on the 600 motor?

don't give up on the original carb, it's not that hard to clean up and tune. Make a new accel pump diaphragm from nitrile (cloth backed prevents extrusion) and clean and check needle valves. I always use an ultrasonic tank to get the gum and junk out!

Although you are right about the original carb, several persons actually did use other carbs on 600 sedans.

I have used a CV harley carb,( late 80's) they adapt very easy, even still used the original filter box.
It looks right at home, just had to make a change to the cable bracket and made an adapter out of exhaust pipe to mount. I am now back to the original carb,,,,but just for originality ...the HD carb works better.

Some say CV stands for constant velocity, others say constant vacuum (across the main jet). Constant velocity seems to make more sense to me.

CV is constant velocity, same as your Honda stock carb. The Harley ( built by Keihen - just like the stock Honda carb ) carb looks more like the older style with the flat cover, but looks nice since they are painted black. These carbs are plentyful and all parts are still available, no I dont have any installed photos but I still have the set-up. No change to the throttle cable, but I did have to grind down the knob a bit on the choke cable to make it fit. This is a very easy retro fit and looks like a factory install when done., You can buy these for about $50.00

Bill, check out e-bay, there are used for about 50 bucks and New for $129 or $150 I used the stock Honda cable bracket, but modified a bit, bolts right on and used about a two inch long ( if I remember right ) extention on the engine side. I considered making a kit and offering it for sale to 600 owners but just don't have to time right now.
