rotating release bearing shaft

Post by rickvanderkeur »

Hi every one. Today i was tunig up my honda n600 and i noticed that my release bearing shaft was rotating. It makes a squeeky sound when it touches the release lever. Is that suppose to happen? I thought it was a bit strange.
I adjusted the lever looser so it wont touch it when the clutch isnt used but that cant be right.
Thanks

Doesnt that mean the release bearing has seized up, rusty or just lack of grease and worn out ? not good.

I am not sure about this particular engine but many engines are designed for this to occur to prevent uneven wear on the shaft. It may not be a problem at all.

rotating release bearing shaft

If the correct adjustment for the release bearing to the clutch is stated in attachment c-ch31 (Honda 600 shop manual Coupe supplement) the part is identified in the parts manual attachments cpar-18 (#19) and listed on cpar-19.
If the bearing has been touching the clutch diaphragm spring cpar-18 (#7) then it may be warn out and could need replacement.
But making the correct adjustment may fix the problem.

Thanks all for answering. Today I finally had the time to check it out.
The bearing was seized up. The grease inside dried up. So i cleaned it up and put some new grease in it.
Now it's working as is should work.
