Greg,
Contact Bill Colford at XXX-XXX-XXXX or BillMyong@...
as he maintains a database of Honda 600s and will have serial number specific information for both frame and engine.
Be mindful he is on the west coast.

Re: serial numbers
Hi Greg, and Merry Christmas;

1 st the Honda Z Coupe 600 is a sportier model than the N Sedan 600. 2 nd , The Sway bar is thicker and the springs are 10mm vice 9mm thick, and to handle the stiffer suspension there is a different rear engine mount. Is the rest of the sub frame the same, yes for Sedans built after April 1971. Honda built the Z Coupe from April 1971 through August 1972. The engine transmission changed from Constant to Full synchro in April 1971, but the engine/case stayed much the same from the outside. Numbers for the Z Coupe engine first two numbers start with 25 for the Z 600 engines assembled with a full synchro trans. Other countries like France maintained the constant transmission so the first two numbers are 20 for the Z600’s sold there. The Sedans’ first two engine numbers for a constant transmission are 10 with the numbers changing to 15 if assembled with the Full Synchro trans. But, every N600 coming into the USA used a Full Synchro trans starting in April 1971 through end of production in August 1972.
Chassis numbers all start with 10 (using a total of 7 digits for the chassis number) and the Sedan chassis numbers are consecutive for all N 600’s with either Standard or Automatic transmissions for all countries and the numbers didn’t start over every year. The Z 600’s also use a single run of chassis numbers. Although there were identified significant changes denoted by a B or C in the N or Sedan VIN, the numbers were consecutive.
There are exceptions as in the case of the Honda N600’s built for Portugal , which that country had the cars shipped in disassembled and they were assembled in Portugal where an addition of up to 3 numbers preceded the Honda Chassis number. But the number is still evident as it starts with 10 (using a total of 7 digits for the chassis number) to what seems to be a way of associating the correct parts for these cars.
The final piece of the Honda Chassis Code is the date of manufacture. As early cars and some different countries only had an adhesive label it normally fell off. This is where keeping a listing of all Honda 600’s as allowed me to check to see what the date (month) of manufacture is correct for your car.
I don’t maintain the owner of the vehicle associated with the chassis number. So if you asked who owns what chassis number I couldn’t tell you.
Hope this helps to unravel some of the mystery to the numbering of the N and Z 600’s.
Bill

Re: serial numbers
Thanks Bill.
The attached photo is of a stamped number on the body. It is C1007136.
Does this indicate it is a 1971 model ?
The Chassis number on the nameplate of the same car is 1030450

Re: serial numbers [1 Attachment]
Greg; The C1007136 on the front body support is noting more than a part number. The number to the chassis is on the small outcropping just in front of the Air Box to the Carb. See attached (Page 5 in your owners manual) These are the places your chassis numbers can be found. But only stamped into the body just in front of the Air Box.
