But, you're right, the engine could be mounted in either car.
As far as the Tach goes; if the cam is a true early engine cam then there would have to be a hole for the tach drive and an additional hole with 6mm 1.0 threads machined to accommodate the bolt needed to hold the Tach drive in place.
Or a Tach drive cam could be reground giving it the early cam specs. However then the area removed off the back end of the cam lobes will need something like lash caps to put the material removed, back on the end of the valve stem. It all goes back to the saying "you can do almost anything if you throw enough money at it".
