1972 Honda Az600 finally on the road
1972 Honda Az600 finally on the road
Well my 72 Az600 coupe is finally rebuilt and driving. Thanks to all for the many tips that made this possible. I noticed the other day that although the hood latch mechanism works the bracket isn't mounted and I have no idea where it goes because the previous owner has a bolt through the bracket with a nut and two washers on it but I don't see anywhere to mount it to. I have loked both at the z600 coupe service manual and the parts manual but none are clear where it is mounted. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Re: 1972 Honda Az600 finally on the road
Are you wanting to know where it mounts (1) inside under the glove box or (2) the section which mounts under the hood?

Dale,
Where the section that mounts under the hood. There is a bracket on the end of the cable cover but I don't know what it attaches to.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: 1972 Honda Az600 finally on the road
Bob,
The cable should have a black sheath which ends with an L-shaped bracket.
From the L-shaped bracket is a metal cable which goes to the hood latch plate in the middle of the chassis framing. The L-shaped bracket connects at the ignition coil. Use your 10mm wrench to remove the nut which secures the ignition coil to the chassis. Place the L-bracket between the chassis and the ignition coil frame and then put the nut back on to secure everything.
good luck,
Dale
