Tubes or no tubes ??

Hi all,
I was getting ready to install my new tires and I am noticing that there isn't a safety bead on these rims. This is the extra ridge in the rim just before the bead completely seats up against the rim, these rims have a completey flat area where the bead is.
My spare tire was an original bias ply and this had a tube in it which I have re-used (the tube, not the tire), but the other four tires were radial tires with no tubes.
I found a site were I can get Mini Cooper tubes but I was wondering if they are neccessary with the radial tires as long as they will seal well.
Can you guys give some input?

I recently replaced the tires on factory N600 rims with no tubes and they have held air for 6 months with no leaks.  My rims were pretty rusty and after cleaning and painting, I put a little grease around the tire bead when I mounted the tires to help seat the tires.

I am the original owner of my sedan and as soon as the bias ply's wore out I went to tubeless and never looked back (80,000 miles).  I didn't even know until this post that there was such a thing as a safety bead. If the rims are not rusted then in my opinion you would be fine.

I would suggest taking the wheels and tires to a reputable tire dealer and getting their opinion. I had tubes in 2 of my tires on a classic Mini. The tire dealer thought the tubes were in there since the wheels were rusted quite abit and the tires were not making a good seal. I had the wheels blasted and painted. The tires mounted with no tubes and no problems since. Also, the dealer didn't recommend putting the tubes back in as he thought there might be some unwanted friction between the tube, tire, and wheel leading to possible failure of the tube down the road--the latter probably wouldn't be a problem though if the car wasn't a daily driver.

Thanks for the input guys,
     I took them into work today and I also used a  bead sealer just to be safe since there was some slight pitting in the wheels from rust.
I am going to spin them and check to see if they need balancing too while I am at it.
