Oil Filter Plate (washer)

Post by John »

Changed the oil on my 1972 N600 sedan for the first time since I got it and
discovered the plate (washer) was missing. It's that washer that goes between the spring and
the rubber gasket under the oil filter. I haven't yet asked at the Honda dealer for the
part (90420-551-000) but in case it isn't available from them, does anyone know where I
can get a suitable replacement. The hardware store washer has the right OD (29 mm) but the
wrong ID (17mm). I think the washer may be about 28 mm OD and needs to be 18 mm ID, or
a hair more. ( I'm not putting the new filter in until I have something in there to hold that
gasket in place.)

Thanks for the link. I did not try them because:
1. My local Honda dealer said that, though it is a good part number, it is
not available from Honda.
and 2. I went to the local Honda motorcycle dealer and got a "seat" which
goes into a GL1000 in the same position under the oil filter. Part number
15414-300-000. They had it in stock at the store and total cost, including
the tax, was $2.09.
The oil filter for the GL1000, though similar, probably won't work for the
600s. They are the same diameter, but an 1/8 inch or so shorter. The two
gaskets are built into the filter and the top center of the filter is
indented about the same depth as the bottom is. The two O-rings supplied
with the GL1000 filter are exact matches for the two O-rings on the 600s.

Try this other site I found. I think it's located in the Netherlands. They have stuff for N600 and N600G and N360. I just got some parts from them. Molding, mirrors, etc.
