Ok,
Here is the scoop. I've got my '72 Z back in N. Ga from Central
Florida. (Any body see me?) Anyway, My Z has 38,000 miles, but the
engine is in 3 boxes in my garage. I recieved another '72 that was
running in 2004. The car was hit at the door pilar by another car
(Bad Day....) The owner attempted to pull it out, but it is pretty
bad. The car is complete with all new body gaskets in 1991 or so.
EVERY THING! I am wanting to pull everything off of the bent one and
put it on my 72. When I get the stuff off of the bent one, I am
thinking that I want to cut out the driver's door post and 1/2of the
rocker pannel as well as the shock tower and replace it with another
from a 3rd Z that I have. The 3rd Z is in really in bad shape, and
it is a 71. Has anyone ever tried this before? I know how to weld,
but is there any significant interior body changes between the two
years? I will also need a Driver's fender. ( the 71 is missing
this). I think the biggest problem I will have with repairing the
2nd 72 is location.
I hope to have one of the Z's running in a few weeks. I'll keep
everyone informed. Does anyone know what tires these things had on
them when new? Two of my Z's had Bridgestone identical tires in the
spare area. One of these cars hadn't been driven since '77.
Thanks,
KC
