breaker plate end.. oil seal.

Post by Q »

Hi all, just been around the stores today hunting down an oil seal
for the breaker plate end of the cam shaft.
my problem is that the old one has kinda falling apart and is all out
of shape. Obviously this means i need a new one. The car is a N360
most of the bits seem sililar to the 600 and all. So hoping someone
can help me with a type that can be bought to fit. Here at home a
specialist can suply me with one but it is 2 mm to thick.otherwise it
would be perfect. Another question I was asked when enquiring "Does
this part get to or over 100 degree's Centigrade"
Well maybe someone can help me out, maybe not?
Happy Honda'ing
My little 360 will be back on the road again tonight though with a
little leak from a 2nd hand seal from a parts car, must get out and
reset the valves before the sun sets on me.
Bye from Q in New Zealand

I replaced my breaker end seal when I re-built my engine last year,
with a NOS honda item. The original seal has grooves which prevent
centrifugal forced oil leaks. Trouble is, the NOS item I used has the
grooves running in the opposite direction to the original item. The
result was........yep an oil leak!
I'd be really interested to hear if anyone knows of a suitable
replacement and part number. Is there any motorcycle stuff out there?

Hi James;
You can pull it out and turn it around, the grooves will be running in
the right direction then. What you used was a seal for the Clutch drum.
Same size, different direction.
