Vacuum assist unit

Post by Stephen Garth Sorensen »

I am restoring my 1971 Honda 600 sedan and would like to know if anyone has access to a rebuild kit for the vacuum assist brake unit. I know many people simply bypass this unit, but I remember when first driving the car how great the brakes feel with that unit working properly and if possible would like to get a rebuilt one or find a place that actually has the diaphragms necessary to rebuild one of the two that I presently have. I live in the greater Los Angeles area.
Thanks,
Garth

Thank you. My mechanic says he has found one. No idea if it is from these folks or not. I will keep this in mind. Peace.

I would love to dismantle one of the Karps boosters to see what is really inside. I know what should be inside.
I had Centric rebuild me some calipers a few years back. They put in new seals, new pistons & new plastic balking rings.
Looked Perfect! So I sent in 10 more, they came back with news seals & rusty pistons - I was so mad but the auto parts
house wouldn't do anything about it.

Good to know my friend. Thanks. This coming week I will be checking with my mechanic to follow up on his progress.
