Clogged fuel tank line help

Post by eric.geiger »

Hello all, Mark at MPH Specialties currently has my Z600 and is trying to get it running for me. the only thing currently in his way is a clogged fuel line. its the tank outlet line that runs into the fuel filter. He has tried soaking it and spraying some carb cleaner and such down it and taken a wire and gotten through about 12" of it but he says its filled with a tar like substance.
Does anyone have any suggestions to clear the line.
Would a radiator shop who boils and seals tanks be any help??
if it can't be unclogged is the tank trash?
Thanks!!

Lots more carb cleaner and 3 to 4 feet of small cable should clear the line. Putting the cable in a cordless drill at slow speed will help speed the process ~ you can also access the hard line near the tank as well as at the carb. .....and make sure the the short line into the tank is clear
good luck ....and don't give up

That's a long line....with twists and turns.... old fuel will settle and solidify at the lowest points. The blockage is prolly along the rocker panel (least that's where the line runs on a Sedan). Chances are that 12" wire you used never reached the blockage.
