hi all this is dean again... well i think it is idling at a rough rpm between 1100 and 2000 its rough but it is continous...a big change. i removed the solinoid and there was no fuel comming from it...so even though it came from a "running engine" i decided to open it up and check the jets. when i went to remove the idle jet it "broke off" this left me with a strange situtation... i dug out the old carb and took both apart. the old carbs jets unscrewed so i started with that. i took parts from both and made one crossing my fingers i tried it. it started and the adjustment points started working. so now i am able to get it into a rough but stable idle ...now for a tune-up.
note to self... never assume that a carb that has been around for years is without problems...
