giving up
giving up
Well I worked on brakes some more today and went backwards. Most of
time pedal goes all way to floor after holding it down a few seconds. Bled
MC and booster again and never did see air bubbles in hose. When pumping
brake pedal I can hear
noises coming from, I assume MC. Rear brakes would not lock at all. Giving
up until I
get some parts. Think I'll start with MC and rear wheel cylinders unless
someone has a better idea.
So, anyone have a good MC they want to sell? I see Miles has 11/16
wheel kits but don't see any 5/8. Anyone have these parts let me know as
I'm at my wits end.

when I got one of my mc's rebuilt there was a problem where I had no, to very little front fluid. Sent it back and the second one worked perfect. I to could hear fluid but could not bleed it. Get it rebuilt I maybe that will solve your problem. Not that I know a lot but it was a problem I had.
hope you get it up and running soon

Tom, that would be great but $195 + shipping is a little much for my lil ole SS check right now.

Re: giving up
Hi Cotten,
Miles sells both sizes for your master cylinder.
He has the 3/4 and 13/16 inch sizes. For the
wheel cylinder, you can get the parts through your local auto parts store (look at my earlier msg with
the Raybestos part number). It should sell for less than $10.
And I believe Miles sells the rear wheel cylinder seal kit.....ask him.
good luck,
Dale
PS Your brake system may not need new parts. It may only need to be disassembled and cleaned out.
Last month I was working on a coupe and sedan which were behaving identical to your situation. It can be frustrating since I did not want to have to spend a lot of time getting it fixed. I ended up taking apart both calipers, both rear brake cylinders, and the master cylinder on both cars. As I took apart each item, I was seeing problems in each part. Although I had one item which had some serious pitting on its bore, most of my problems were resolved by doing a thorough cleaning. In retrospect, it is probably a good idea to do a thorough tear down of the brake system and make sure it is in top shape.
The last thing you want is to be traveling on the freeway and find your brakes are not working properly.

Re: giving up $195
You should have had it done when it was $195. Now it's $225.00
exchange + shipping. I think the current price for just the sleeving
is $95.00 + kit @ $45.00 + 2 check valves $25.00 + my labor, so I
really don't make much on them.
You can send yours out to get sleeved, get a kit then rebuild it
yourself.
13/16 master cylinder kit $45.00
3/4" " " " $45.00
5/8" seals $5.00 per cup
11/16" seals $12.00 per kit
rear shoes $45.00/set 4
caliper bleeders $7.50 pr
rear brake hose for sedan $35.00
brake pads $60.00
caliper pad pins & springs also avail.
Just because you don't see it on ebay does not mean I don't have it.
I can't list everything all the time plus if you bypass eBay you can
have a 10% discount which is what they charge me to sell there +
paypal fees for receiving money.

Re: giving up $195
Miles, Thanks for the info. Going to try one more thing and if that don't work
I'll be ordering some parts. Really believe I can get by without re-sleeving as it
looked good and smooth to me. On the check valves {is that the 3/4 inch deals on top of MC?} is that each or pair.
I'll be back in touch if this maneuver fails.
