so i've had a couple people come spy on my N600 over the past 3-4 months while i'm not there (it's sitting in the drveway and i get a note on the door asking if i want to sell it about 2-3 time a year so I know people are peering on it while i'm at work).
anyway, I think one of them might have broken the hood latch trying to see the engine, cus this weekend I tried to open the hood and the latch is loose...just moves up and down w/ little resistance.
i think the cable/linkage came disconnected or possibly broke.
but now the hood is closed and I can't release the latch to get it open.
anyone know a trick to open the latch w/ the hood closed and the release lever not working?
i need to replace the sending unit and get it back on the road and the hood latch is somewhat important.

The sedan uses a coupe hood latch with the articulated lever
attached. If you shine a flashlight up under your hood through the
grille you can see where the cable for the coupe would attach to the
release. Insert a screwdriver in that cable hole and pry outwards
toward the right fender. The hood should pop open.
If it is truly broken you could install a cable to keep your fans
from stealing your carb or battery or other goodies under the hood. I
did it on one of my own sedans with coupe release handle and a
bicycle shifter cable from a 10 speed. Sometimes the articulated
release lever gets wedged up inside there, you will see once hood is
opened. They are pretty well made, so it's doubtful someone actually
broke it off.

right on.
i assumed it prolly had something simple that came loose from the lever,
but I know I didn't do it.
and the quick 2 mins I took to look at it I didn't know what to look
for.
i'll check it out this weekend and see.
if they steal the battery, that will just save me a trip to the dump to
dispose of it.
it's dead...very dead. but i didn't think about the carb...eek!
