Hi all,
I've an old copy of selected portions of "Japaneese Import Cars" looks
like a magazine from 1972 or so. Anyway it does this whole story about
J&J Performance Products out in Culver City, CA. They made overbore
kits in 10:1 and 12:1 compression sets for the 600, they also made
street and competition header's. I haven't been able to locate
anything about the company and would like to find out if anyone knows
of this company or if any one has any of their kits / headers installed
still. I have an old address and the owners name if anyone is near
Culver City and woould like to help me out. Who knows maybe in Culver
City we can find some neat old NOS stuff at somebody's garrage or
warehouse.....one can only hope.
Thanks,
KC and The Z in GA
Anyone ever heard of J&J performance Products in CA?
Re: Anyone ever heard of J&J performance Products in CA?
I found a website for "a" J&J that is a seller of Buell motorcycles. The website looked like someone started to build it then gave up. There is no address or phone number anywhere on the site. In any event I wrote them and asked if they are the same people. Given their current occupation it seems logical that it could be the same one.

I recall the adds for these kits and know of one person who had one
installed back in the 70s when I lived in Hawaii. 700 miles later he
scattered the bottom end. I can imagine how well one with a 40 year
old crankshaft would perform.--- In

Re: Anyone ever heard of J&J performance Products in CA? YES Again!
J&J is still in business, but give up trying to get more info out of
me than that! I will tell you what John of J&J told me a few years
ago. "We gave away all our parts to another enthusiast". J&J sold
piston kits that were made in California, I believe by J&E. I have
one set of these big bore high dome pistons and a set of matching
cylinders. If you cantact J&E and give them the specs you desire,
you too can have piston sets made, minimum purchase is 2 sets. The
sets come with pistons/rings/wrist pins.
If you like grenading engines, go ahead, but you better have a pile
of crankshafts. The standard crank fails with just the stock sizes
of pistons, the caam chain is a weak link. You should talk with the
Evil Tweety owner before dreaming about engine mods.
There's a new member coming aboard that has some interesting mods
done to a sedan.
