Hi riceburner006
You said "vERY GOOD THINKING,BUT THAT WILL CAUSE GEAR GRINDING! especially
reverse. HONDA HAD IT RIGHT!"
Well I will agree with your general comment is generally true. I always
cringe when I see folks, especially ones with little on hands experience,
start redesigning something when they have no common sense to back them up.
Honda has a good record but they have problems at times too. Bet Ellis can
tell us a few in his wrenching days at the dealers.
No I never had any gear grinding for the clutch was fully released just as
good as with the original clutch lever. Now I do recall catching reverse
instead of 1st or is that 2nd! Its been 20 years since I drove one. I
usually caught it before I had the clutch out and I think it all happened
before I made the new clutch lever arm. Poor little reverse gear. I glued
a magnet in the cover next to the shifting reverse pinion to catch the
shavings when accidents happen.
But Ellis comment on his 360 got me thinking. I bet they used the same
clutch cover on the 360 as they did for the 600. And I bet the 600
pressure plate is a lot stronger then the one used in the 360....
My "fix" was easily installed and removed with out changing any orginal
parts.... Details on request..

Wally,
I'm nuts to be up at 4:30 AM (I'm in London) but oh well.... That list is long
and would fill a book... which maybe I should sit down and write one of these
days. Sort of an Anti Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. There's all the
'simple' ones like jamming SAE screws into metric threaded holes. 1/4 inch
screws work great for the 6 mm ones. The more insidious ones like "I put STP in
my Hondue 'cause uncle Joe said his Ford runs right good that thar way" and my
all time favorite is, "It ain't the right place to put anti-freeze?"
