Has anyone tried time-serts for thread repair? Are they better than
helicoil.

thread repair
Re: thread repair
David: I have used the Timeserts for a long time. They work pretty well and have good holding power. That being said, if your using them somewhere that needs to be used reasonably often, like drain plugs, then they have a tendency to come out with the bolt. I recommend a little JB Weld on the threads and always using the thread tools that come with them. Happy Trails! Jeff cranium_richard wrote:

Re: thread repair
I have always used Heli-Coils from day one and never had one pull
out. Usually the kit and coils are pretty inexpensive. I hear Keen-
Serts are supposed to be really good, but have never use them nor the
Time-Serts. Bill C. has a preferred insert but I forget what it is.
