Hello!
I have a just short of fully restored sedan that i recently got
going again. It runs and looks great but the front brakes don't
release enough after stopping or slowing down. The only way to get
them to release fully is to jab at the brake pedal hard. This seems to
free them up enough to drive untill of course you have to stop again.
My question is- is it the master cylinder or brake booster or what ?
Also the front sway bar bushings have turned into black goo and
fallen off the car. This is the second time this has happened. On the
coupes I have owned the bushings never have turned to goo but they
only have one side bulged into the little bumper. I though they would
look weird on a sedan. Has anyone had any luck with regular sway bar
bushings? I hate to buy 2 more sedan bushings just to have them fall
off again.
I am selling the AN600 if anyone is interested. Info by request.

Re: sedan brake help
Nine times out of ten, it is the check valve on the master cyclinder outlet to the brake line that keeps the brakes
locked up.
locked up.

Re: sedan brake help
Hi Dave and walshes600;
The check valve can most certainly be the culprit, but most often, the
bleed back hole in the master cylinder has caused the brakes to lock up and
then release. However I did have a front brake hose lock up one caliper
leaving all the others free. And, another time some one forgot to put the
pin on the end of the piston assembly for the booster on a coupe that didn't
allow the front system to release. Do you see what I am getting at. rework
the system, all of it. And then, if there is a problem, find it, and fix
it. Because right now it may be locking up but later it may allow your
peddle to sit on the floor. Then you might be feeling another experience in
"stopping your car mode..." the quick one right after you hit the guy in
front of you.

Re: sedan brake help
Thanks everyone for the info on my brake problem!
It still doesn't release the fronts after I bled the
system good. I also moved the pistons on the calipers
to see if they were moving freely ... they are. I
guess I will be pulling the master cylinder and brake
booster next.
I would like to sell it rather than work on it at
this point. Time and money constraints you know!
thanks again

Re: sedan brake help
Try looking at your brake hoses, they may be plugged.
