Look at this image:

It is supposed to be the exhaust part that connects the exhaust pipe
to the heater box.
So my question is, why is it backwards? Is it meant for right hand
driving?

It's not backwards, they made 2 different early exhausts, just gotta
make sure you buy both of the same direction.
