Engine swap

I saw in the photo section a car that had a 1.3lt Subaru motor in
it. Are there any larger Honda motors which can be fitted into these
cars? With the Subaru swap, is it safe to say that the entire front
end had to be modified, suspension, drive lines ect. I'm not a
mechanic but I work at a honda dealer and would like to have a little
insight into this before I attempt to hold a conversation with our
mechanics. For example if I found a Subaru motor, would I also need
the transmision as well? I would prefer to stay with the honda
motors. I enjoy this car, it's fun to drive, I'm not trying to race
it, however a little more power would be nice. Also it's been very
difficult for me to find anyone who is willing to work on the 2cyl
engine.

On the N600 you can fit an 197? Honda 1200cc or a Mazda Rotary engine you
will need the trans. and rear end.

Hi Jason;
There have been several swaps into the Honda N and Z 600's, if you throw
enough money at it anything can be achieved. But if your looking for ways
of making your car go faster there are some tricks to getting it to get
there quicker, but faster is kind of regulated by the gearing in the
transmission and keeping it under red line.

Hello..
Well my little 72 Coupe seems to have bent valves, Jumped timing
chain or both. And thanks to the SouthEastHonda600 club for this info
on my car. Since it is rusty (and high milage)here is what i'm
looking in to doing now. I have a 80hp 1.7 type 4 VW engine and
several transaxles from Bugs (4 Speed) and 2 Porsche 914 (5 speed).
I got the car in the building today, not at all a garage, and
tomorrow I will jack it up in the rear to do some more measuring to
see if this 1.7 VW and transaxle will fit in the REAR of my Z600.
Hows this sound????
I will also measure to see if it will fit in the front, but does
not look good for that swap. A 1600 Bug engine is 21" long and the
Type 4 engine is 27" long, PLUS the 8 in. to the center of axles
from the rear of the engine. Just not nuff room up front.

doing for the steering up front?

The axels have to be held in place for the geometry of the front wheels.
Are you making a straight front axel?

I've been told that a 999cc Mini engine will fit in
the Honda engine bay nicely with just a few
modifications...longer lasting than the Honda but not
as inexpensive as the VW engine.

i dont like to brand swap but thats me. IE: an integra motor to a crx is ok
but not a toyota into a honda. etc etc.....
some VW van people put subarus in there because teh are flat motros but again
not the same brand.
ok well good luck. dont spend to much if you not going to keep it a while.

I was hoping to use just the outer splined part of the axle to hold
it together.
Guess I better look at it somemore befor I get to swappin.
I think a strait axle would be cool to..
