Re: Mike's Meet; Fly wheels and such

I like Miles idea of picking us up and returning. Another suggestion is to
have a Auto Transport make stops across the country ending up at Mikes NC
meet. We could pickup Honda 600's along the way and make a tour of it.
Then about a mile or so away we could unload and drive to mikes meet. Have
a few hot dogs, tell lies about our great gas mileage and be on the road
back. Who is in?
On the fly wheel coming loose. I have had the bolt come loose once, but not
the flywheel. Tightening it up if you can might do the trick, but I like to
try and find out why something happens before just guessing and letting
things happen again.
As to lightening the flywheel, if Miles and Mike have already tried it then
there is your proof. The torque of the Honda 600 engine is fairly flat and
really extends better part of the range of its acceleration path. If you
are looking for speed and power, lighten up your pistons, take another .005
of the head and regrind the cam. Clean up the intake and exhaust ports,
dial in your spark plugs switch to carbon plug wires, and hook up a timing
light to make sure your on the mark. And don't forget to retorque your head
after a couple hundred miles. Every time I change out a head gasket and go
back to retorque it there are always loose head nuts. By loose I mean I use
less torque to back them up than originally applied. And when you
retorque, never exceed the recommended torque.
