I am contemplating pulling the exhaust manifolds, heat exchanger and heat shields for cleanup and painting. DOes anyone know what material the gaskets for these are made of? Can I fabricate them myself, or are they available from a retail source or a listmember? Also, are there any particular issues to be aware of when pulling these parts? I intend to leave the engine in place.
Also, I would like to use POR-15, the rustproofing coating, on these items. Does anyone know if POR-15 is high-temp compatable?
Thanks,
Steve
exhaust manifold and heat exchanger gaskets?
Re: exhaust manifold and heat exchanger gaskets?
Mr Gasket has gasket material that I have used with success. Any
auto parts store with speed equipment should have it or something
like it.

Re: exhaust manifold and heat exchanger gaskets?
I have found that air cooled vw exhaust gaskets fit perfectly on the
honda head. They are high quality stamp steel gaskets, that have an
asbestos center. They are slightly thicker than the original, but
work well.
