Free Honda 600 Coupe

Post by Steve »

Miles,
The donor swears he drove the car into the lot where it now sits
hemmed
in by an RV, but I swear it will not be driven out without some
substantial work. It was last registered in 1993 and may have sat
outside ever since, although the front seats don't look too bad. The
CA
plate on it is 929 ERD, for what little that matters and the odometer
shows about 67K. it says it is a '72 Coupe Sn AZXXX-XXX-XXXX.
I didn't think to take a camera, so no pix, but will try to remember
if
and when I'm next there. The body didn't look too bad at first, but
on
opening the passenger door it was obvious that the vertical seam in
the
front of the jamb is rusting from the inside, and the hood was not
noticed, but could be nearby. Parts have been removed from the engine
and as I've never seen one in person before it isn't safe to speculate
on what is or isn't off or missing. That fan belt brings back
memories
of old Corvairs. The only broken glass that I noticed was on the one
behind the driver's door.
If you want to see it, the car is in a lot directly across from Larry
the owner's shop, Old School Auto Body, 1030 Washington St, San Carlos
Ca 94070, phone XXX-XXX-XXXX. As the lot itself appears to be open
during normal business hours you can just walk in and take a peek, but
until you scootch in to the front of the RV near the fence you will
not
be able to see the little Orange coupe. The driver's door is totally
blocked, but you can walk around 3 sides of the car.
it is free for the taking, but some arrangements will need to be made
to
move the RV. Also, we didn't talk about the status of the paperwork,
but on a different matter he mentioned that having a shop he can put a
lien on any car in his possession and get clean paperwork for about
$18
and maybe (I'm guessing) about 3 weeks.
If you or anyone decides to contact Larry do tell him that the Citron
2CV guy sent you.
David
ps; feel free to post this information to any list or pass it on to
any
potentially interested parties. SORRY that I forgot to take note of
the
tail light lenses and other plastic, but assume that all of it is sun
bleached and weakened even if it is intact.
