I am looking for the heat exchanger section on the exhaust system,
some knuckle head ripped off the shielding and tossed it away. I also
need to find out what grade oil I should be running, I am getting
some gear clash on shifts, while the engine is cold, fine when warm.
I am in sunny southern CA, where the temperature is 85 year round (if
that helps). Any suggestions? Thanks,
Colin

Re: Part and advise needed
If you are in sunny CA you don't need the shielding on the exhaust for the carb heat. I recently had the pipe crack and the shielding hid it. It took me forever to discover the problem so removing the shielding can even have advantages.

Actually, I was refering to the passenger compartment heater. I just
have the blower motor blowing into nothing right now. You are right
when you say that the heat isn't needed in Ca, but the fact of the
matter is I am kind of a wuss and I might want some heat for when I
am out on those snowboarding trips, he he. I could see how having a
crack in the exhaust right in there could cause a problem, were you
feeling sleepy when you drove (just kidding). Thanks for the info,
any thought on what oil I should be running? Thanks,
