In one of my old Novelty News newsletters, I told how to lower your
car with aluminum blocks. If you lower it more than 1" the rear end
wangs into the bottom of the body on every bump. You can easily make
longer U Bolts with 3/8-24 All Thread. Do not use the 3/8-16 because
it cracks when you bend it. Take the plate off that the shock mounts
to and that's your drilling template for the aluminum block.
I lowered one of my coupes so low it was almost invisible. 2" in the
rear with sedan struts in the front. Looked really cool, drove really
sucky. Installing sedan struts on the coupe actually changes the
front end geometry. The steering is scarry quick and the wheels angle
in severly. When I went over RR tracks, it would *chirp* when I hit
the other side. BTW I don't go slow over tracks & speed bumps, 35mph
or so.
