Rear 11/16" wheel cylinder rebuild kit. An alternative.

Post by tgm_enterprizes »

Ok, recently I brought another coupe to life but found that I needed to kit the rear wheel cylinders.  My local auto parts stores no longer could get the Geo Metro kits I had previously used. I also didn't want to spend a pile of money on the kits that were for 600's on eBay.
My o'reillys parts guy let me flip through his paper catalog. Success, I found a generic Chevy 11/16 kit that had all needed parts. However, the seals did not have lopes in the center, but we're solid flat seals that were held apart by a spring.
Simple solution, I chucked the 600's pistons in my lathe and removed the portion that formerly went through the seal.  Those of you without a lathe can simply grind this off. What matters is that the new seal needs a flat surface to seat on.
Part number is BrakeBest BHH WCK351921 cost was about $7 or so.
Hope this will help someone out,
Richard Morris
