Brake Master cylinder and booster 71 N600 sedan.

Post by Stephen Garth »

Can anyone comfirm that the Coupe and the Sedan models both used the same master cylinder and booster? And were they different for different years? I would like to purchase a set that works (and/or can be rebuilt) and have them sent to Whitepost for rebuild directly. Thanks. Any lead is welcome. The MC on my car functions but leaks and I am not in the US nor the vicinity of the car right now. I will be in Los Angeles area where the car is on Jan. 5 and hope to be able to install the parts at that time.

What is the chassis, engine and date of manufacture of your car?  This will say what type of power booster you have.  Are the Sedan and Coup boosters the same?
One booster shares several parts between the two vehicles, but the castings for the piston unit are different.  The booster for the Coupe has two outlets and one inlet; the booster for the sedan has one inlet and one outlet.  The diaphragm is the problem and I believe the early (black rear canister) is what Whitpost restorations can rebuild.  You will have to contact them to find out.

I will try to attach the picture we took of the ID plates. I am nearly sure it is the earliest one. The parts car pic (whie paint) is from a 'parts' car that I purchased. I am of the opinion that it is the same year and model. The second pic (yellow paint) is the car I am restoring.  Thanks for your input.  Garth
