lowering a coupe

Post by plumgt34 »

Any advice on lowering a coupe. I could probably make lowering blocks for the rear but where would be a good source for longer c clamps over the rear axle. If I cut a coil from the front springs will I run into any issues. Thanks Bill

I don't have experience with the coupe, but I lowered the front of my sedan.   I cut three full rings off the spring. It performs just as good as before I don't notice any performance issues. It looks way better now. I did not do anything to the rear yet cause I'm going to be adding some weight to the rear area and I want to see how it looks before I mess with the leafs.
Look up some of Mark Hatten's pic.  he has a blue and white super hot rod #69 coupe that I believe may have lowered the front.
Good luck  Kurt

I lowered my coupe. I made 2 inch lowering blocks and ordered Custom U-bolts from http://www.dsuban.com/Custom-U-Bolts-c72/
You could get U-bolts made locally but if you're as busy as me it's nice to order some online and have them show up in the mail. I remember the price was fair and they shipped them the very next day.
As others have mentioned you can cut the front springs. I trimmed up the front bumpers stops to allow for a tad more travel. I didn't trim the rear stops but I may in the future.
