2 Project Coupes-- Trade for Sedan? (FS/FT)

Post by Lee Gwin »

Hi,
I've tried twice to post this ad, but I guess I'm not too sharp on how this list-group-thing works. Third time's the charm, I hope...
I have a pair of '72 Coupes sitting in a rented garage in Livingston, MT, and I'm starting to explore my options. Both bought in Arizona, with AZ-like lack of rust. One is a solid fixer-upper, an orange '72 with straight, rust free shell. The other is a blue '72 that's a very nice, nearly complete parts car, or your dream if you're looking to make a driver/beater or want to do something wild to the body. Pretty rough, but not rusty. I live in Denver, and would much rather sell/trade them without towing them down here, but I'm open to ideas. Would consider selling them separately, but I'd rather not. Looking to get $2500 for the pair, or a comparable trade. Don't need more transportation, but I'm a nut for unusual cars. I'm not desperate to do anything, just sick of the garage rent, and facing reality about ever getting to work on these. I may go get 'em and move them here to CO this summer. If I do that, I'll probably get them in good running shape to sell for more. Not sure-- depends on the interest.
My ideal solution would be to trade them both straight across for a nice Sedan (would consider cars + cash for a really nice one, but my preference is for a straight trade. I'm poor and have too many cars). I'm a competent shade tree mechanic with very limited space (9' wide useless attached garage-- I don't even park my Miata in there except for imminent hail damage), fair hand tools and no welding or other fab gear. Almost no body work experience, and consider rust more of a deal-breaker than a challenge. Considering other trades. It's all spelled out in my latest insomniac novel at: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/XXX-XXX-XXXX.html
Another unlikely option is that one of you has shop/garage space in Denver, and might rent to me or work out some deal like I fix one and you get the other? Like I said, unlikely, but it never hurts to ask. Know somebody with some space in Denver who barters? Please point 'em my way. I haven't shopped garage rentals for a while, but the last time I did, it didn't seem like an option for a long-term project.
BTW, I set the price based on what I would be willing to pay for a solid project car and parts car together, including the fact that neither show any sign of ever seeing humidity or salt, though the sun has taken its toll on any soft parts. If you think that price indicates I am under the influence, please say so. You won't insult me. I doubt that it's way low, but please alert me immediately if that's the case! I definitely don't buy and fix old cars for the money, but I'd rather store them than give them away. Pricing advice welcome. I don't have any decent pics here, but have some bad ones if you'd like to see them.
Thanks,
Lee Gwin
