Dale;
    What is interesting about the Parts manual (in the front) states that the side stainless strips started with production vehicle numbers ANXXX-XXX-XXXX, which started in April 1971.  So, the side strips were available for Honda 600 Sedans built on 1 April 1971 to end of production.  Not all had them.  Unlike the 10mm sway bar and heaver A arms full synchro transmissions etc...  which were standard on all Sedans built from 1 April 1971 on.

Hi Bill,
    Thanks for your information.  Where do you get the details on the dates for the VINs?
    Although the side stripe on the 600 sedan first appeared in 1971,  I have always considered this later model as the 1972 styling.   When I look at the color selections available on the trunk lid,  I see Honda has broken it out into 3 distinct groupings which coincide with the 3 different body styles which appeared in 1970, 1971, and 1972 for the mainland USA models.  Although the sedans may appear to all be the same,  when you put the 3 different model years next to each other and look at the body details only,  you do see slight differences in the trim with the 1970 model being the most plain looking.
     While I may not be technically accurate by the actual mfg date,  I see three different styles for the sedan and I know they were sold as 1970, 1971, and 1972 models and so I have assigned each of these styles to one of these 3 years.  That is the formula I have always used to keep it simple.

Hi Dale;
I have been collecting Chassis, engine and date of manufacture data for many years.  From all over the world.  That along with reading the parts and shop manuals and dealer supply catalogs the puzzle starts to take shape.
