Fuel problem/ gas tank

As a few of you recall my post from a few days ago I had problems with my fuel pump being intermittent and then not working.
It always works on start up. I changed fuel pumps from parts car, but that one was bad. I put the old one back in and it pumped for a little bit and was getting very hot so I disconnected the fuel line from the gas tank and it roared to life.
It is shutting off under "over-pressure" as far as a few of you told me. I don't have any contaminants or rust in the fuel filter, is there a screen in the tank before the hose exits? Maybe that is clogged, if so should I get the Hirsch tank sealer or just clean out.

The metal fuel line going into your gas tank that the rubber fuel hose hooks up to is fairly small and makes a sweeping turn as it dives into the tank.  We had to take a small wire and feed it thru that metal tube to clean out an obstruction so that the gas could flow.  This was on a car that had sat for many years but it sure solved our problem.

hi again. make sure that the fuel filter is in the right direction. mine had a after market filter that looked the same as the 600 filter but it turned out to flow backward and the debre was collection on the inside of the filter rather than the outside that you can see. this also reduces the surface area of the filter. good luck dean

Me too. But my fuel ine was completely blocked from the outer metal tube to inside the tank. I took the tank out, pulled the drain plug to access the inside tube (bent it over to the hole) and spent the day shooting WD40 down it to dissolve the rust and working  a piece of wire from both ends. Then the section just as it exits the tank and heads to the front of the car-it's plugged too. I cut it off and put the fuel pump right there in it's place. Not stock but works wonderful now.

I knew a guy who had trouble getting fuel to flow from his tank. He kept thinking the fuel pump was going out, then he kept thinking the filter was getting clogged. The problem was that he had a small loose screw rolling around in his gas tank. Every now and then the screw would sit on top of the exciting fuel line, and stop the flow of fuel.
This is of course a very rare problem, but it's something to consider.
