Hi All,
I'm having an overcharging problem with my '70 Sedan, it originally
had a hacked up wiring harness (twisted and taped wiring) and had
burned up a previous regulator. Here's what I've done so far:
Installed new wires, loom and OEM type terminals in charging system
Checked Rotor - 5.0 ohms, no opens or grounds
Checked Stator - 0.1 ohms, no opens or grounds
Checked Brushes - 8mm length and tension good
Checked Rectifier - Continuity one-way on all three leads, but not
reversed.
Tried both an OEM regulator and an aftermarket electronic unit, both
charging up to 17.5 VDC from 13.5 VDC at idle. Seems as though
voltage gets higher as the engine warms up. I am currently using the
OEM regulator.
Can anyone think of something I may have overlooked or have any other
input on this?
Thanks,
John
