Thanks Everyone for posting. i really needed to hear the information
that You gave!! The situation with the car is this. i bought it for
$300 so i thought it was a no brainer to take on. at the onset i
really didnt know a lot about these cars. Someone had used this one
for a parts car so some things were missing. also, the rockers and
front inner fenderwells are pretty much gone. but i reasoned that i
could do the metal work to get the car back in shape body wise. the
tires were all flat and cracked. i went online and got a set of 4
Kumho tires. they arrived 3 days from the time i ordered them and i
got them for $208 (price included shipping!) i needed to get the
thing rollable so i could move it around when i need. as far as the
engine, someone had the valve cover off and the chain is rusted. when
i got to really checking the car over i looked under the front and
theres a big hole(3"x1") in the front crank case. i was really
bummed out but all You can do is work the problem. i was hoping to
pull the engine but still be able to steer the car around. i know it
has to come out. and even if i cant deal with the engine now, i can
get the engine compartment cleaned up. Still, i am really nervous
about what to do for a powerplant. i hadnt really considered trying
to reuse the engine. was hoping i could come up with a good engine in
a rusted out damaged car or something but now that i know a little
more im not holding my breath. definitely need more info for options.
i really like stock but i cant stick a ton of money in the thing. are
there any other resonable engine swaps to make this car drive down
the road? Thanks, Tim

Hi Woof,
Since you are not interested in trying to rebuild your engine, you may not want to waste any time tearing the engine apart.
The injuries to your engine are serious and if you cannot find another crankshaft for it, you are out of luck. Other than a Honda 600, there are no engines which are a direct swap. Other engines can be made to ft but it will be with much effort. Your best bet may be to find a used or rebuilt engine for the Honda 600. The engine from a Honda 600 sedan will work in your car but you may want to swap some of the parts off your engine to make it authentic looking and give you the tachometer feature.
If you want to remove the engine and make the car still available to roll around, you can pick up an extra engine casing and differential. Extra engine casings should not cost more than $25 plus shipping.
good luck,
Dale

Hey Woof
what i did was i took two wheel barrow tires and a 4x4, drilled a
hole in the ends of the 4x4, than took a piece of round steel and
put it in the 4x4, put the tires on and a pin so they will not fall
off. Now i can move my car back and forth. i also used my floor
jack to put it under the 4x4 to turn it.. I put the 4x4 just back of
where the brake lines come down so i dont smash them.. I am now just
waiting for the motor rebuild.
hope this helps

Re: how'szis . . .. .
hi Dale, i do gotta rip the motor down just to see what makes it tick .. . .. im not sure what ill do for a power plant yet. to go thru the work of collecting and fabricating parts, bead blasting all the peices, and getting paint on the car, i just cant see putting a different power plant in it than stock. still also, ive seen some of these cars that are runnable or could be made to run for around $1500 which is sounding like half the cost of an engine rebuild. right now i guess the plan is to unbolt everything i can and bead blast it and prime it and ill pull the motor and just hope that a good solution comes up while im working on it. thanks, Woof
