I recently sent my 11/16" rear brake cylinders away for re-sleeving.
When I got them back, they were not the same ones, and they were 5/8".
Since my car came with 11/16" cylinders, is 5/8" a proper substitute,
or should I only use the 11/16" cylinders? Is the 5/8" cylinder for a
different car? I have a '72 Z600 coupe. Thanks, Gene
Rear Brake Cylinders - 5/8" or 11/16"
Re: Rear Brake Cylinders - 5/8" or 11/16"
11/16 were for Honda 600's built after 01 Jan 1972. Before that they were 5/8, and on sedans there were single pistion units before that. If you have 5/8 on both sides they will work, but did you get 5/8's pistons back with the new sleeves?

Re: Rear Brake Cylinders - 5/8" or 11/16"
Rule of thumb, does it fit? If so, is it bigger or smaller?
Bigger is better – I seriously doubt the 600’s brakes were so good a slightly bigger cylinder would cause lock up. But a smaller one may make marginal brakes from the 60’s even worse!
