I recently noticed that my Coupe was getting loud(er) and looked underneath to inspect. I found that the exhaust pipe was practically cracked in half, about a foot back from the front wheels.
See the picture, which looks towards the passenger side, the front of the car is to the left. I have since applied one of those cheap pipe wraps - seems to be holding up.

It seems like this is a long way to go without a hangar. Has anyone put a hangar here to relieve the weight stress on the center of the pipe?

cracked exhaust pipe
Re: cracked exhaust pipe
Steve;
It was repaired in the past and what your seeing is age. The weld breaks down the metal and opens it to corrosion right away. And, internal combustion engines make a gallon of water for every gallon they burn. I just had a Coupe muffler blow out on me after 6 years of use and less than a thousand miles. Rust, it eats lives on ferrous metals.

radio/cassette for sedan needed
Hi Bill,
Do you know what semi-modern/modern (relatively easy to track down) radio/cassette players I can install into a sedan? Do any of the old civic stereos fit?
Please inform,
Thanks,

Re: radio/cassette for sedan needed
Hi Kevin,
I just got my 600 sedan back on the road after having it down for a couple of months. It's sooooo good to be driving it again! I could not have done it without a ton of help from Miles. Thanks Miles! ;o)
Anywho, I removed the stock radio from my 600 and replaced it with a Kenwood CD player that also play's MP3's. It just fits! I had to expand the opening a little bit on the sides by removing some of the plastic dash. I also had to relocate a wiring harness which only entailed unsecuring the flexible metal straps, pushing it out of the way, and the resecuring it with the same metal straps.
I remove my back seat and using the back metal plat of the back seat I fabricated and upholstered a nice board to replace the back seat and mounted four speakers on it. It looks and sounds great. Putting a modern stereo into a 600 dash is a small challenge but it is do-able with minimal tools and a little bit creative thinking.

Re: radio/cassette for sedan needed
Kevin L.,
It would be helpful to tell us the model number, and if you got it via the web, a web link. I'm using a 25 year old AM/FM/cassette player, and I'd like to go to a CD player.

Re: radio/cassette for sedan needed
Hi Bruce, et-al,
I bought the Kenwood KDC-MP4032. Most modern in-dash CD players will fit into the dash of a 600 Sedan. The height and width require only minimal modification to the stock opening. The depth of the deck is what's important. I tried to choose a deck with less depth than some of the others. I was able to put a metal strap on the rear of the new deck and secure it to the standard mounting holes in the metal frame under the dash with little effort and really no trouble.
People will just have to decide if they want to modify the dash opening with a saw. My installation finished up very clean and neat and the deck is secure. one more thing to take into consideration is the angle the deck is installed at. I recommend that folks who buy modern CD players for their 600's read the documentation and verify that the deck can be installed and used from 0 to 90 degrees inclination. Some decks like to be installed nearly flat (0 degrees) OR straight up and down (90 degrees). I don't know what my inclination is on my deck but it's probably between 20 and 30 degrees. My deck has not skipped once since I installed it. It totally rocks!
I will be installing the multi-disk changer soon!
