Hi,
Removed the screen from the top if the needle seat. Little if any
improvement. The magic # is still 4200 rpm. I changed out the filter
from the flooding carb, no improvement. I removed it all together, No
improvement. I just don't get it. Smoother idleing, smoother
excellerating (untill the magic #). Then that sinking feeling of
slowing down.....
should I attempt to take the jets out of the smoother carb and put it
into the flooding carb? (should I just replace the the piston at the
top?)
any way, at least I learned the location of the filter and I can
remove
and strip the carb as fast as an indy pit crew now....
Thanks for any additional info.
KC
Just a show of hands:
-Does anyone else have a possesed carberator?
Carb Problems - Starvation at 4200 rpm.-
Re: Carb Problems - Starvation at 4200 rpm.-
Have you checked for a vacuum leak?
Check the advance assembly movement (while the engine is running) ?
Check your grounds? Wire from engine to body then to Negative side of Battery?
Each can have minimal effect on performance, but all can take their toll.

Re: Carb Problems - Starvation at 4200 rpm.-
I've had a possessed carb as well. My coupe is in storage at moment, but I remember at times it would fire up ok and idle fine....and then by the time I got to the stop sign it wouldn't idle at all. i think the carb has plenty of "crud" in it. However, in your case, maybe take the idle adjustment screw (or maybe it's the air/fuel screw, i'm not sure) and screw it all the way in, and then back it out 1 and a half turns...and see what happens at 4200 rpm
hope this helps
