questions about body and paint...

Post by uninterestingnobody »

So I will be painting my 70 sedan soon and had a couple questions - I
want to get it sand blasted, anybody here done it and have a ballpark
estimate? Also, how much will I need to reserve for painting, again
ballpark. The body is fairly straight, no major dents or deep
scratches. I'm looking for something between earl scheib and a show
winning paint job, not perfect but not crappy.Any suggestions on
price would be welcome. Thanks!

I won't guess on the cost of sandblasting, but the cost of the paint
will be approximately $350. That should cover 2 quarts of epoxy
primer, a quart of color coat and the clear coat. To get the body
panels reasonably straight, dents filled etc can take a lot of time
if done right. So you can start with about $350 with no labor costs.
I did all my own body work so don't really have an estimate for the
labor cost.

I had my z 600 repainted with some body work for about $1700.(this was a good paint job). Now i'm having my n600 which is completely stripped(engine, trans, interior and everything out)to be sandblasted and change of color completely for about $3000.00,not including any rubber seals.By the time i am done with this car it will cost me almost$8000.That will be for everything. The z600 cost almost $7000.00,so I think they do cost a lot for being so small.
