strut dissasembly problems And spindles

Post by shadedvirgo »

How the heck do I get that little "c" clip off the top of the strut
without having a spring depressor?
Also, how exactly do I remove the c.v. half shaft from the spindle. I
removed the rotor easily enough but the shaft acts as if it is
pressed into the spindle.
I'm dismantling these parts to restore them and the struts are in
need of an oil change and an "o" ring renewal. So all the assistance
on the 1972 600 sedan strut assy. will be apreciated.
On another note... I have an orriginal owners manual for a 1978 Honda
Civic CVCC. It is weathered a bit but al of the pages are intact and
pristeen, aside from a few notes in two or three of the pages by the
original owner. I'll sell it to anyone who wants it. Make me an offer
if you are interested.

In the attached picture you will need tool number 16(a and b).  The second picture shows how to attach and use it.  I made one out of some lengths of thread bar, a puller and a bottom plate that had a 1inch tall slice of 2inch square tubing welded to it.  works great.
