OK, group, now I'm getting desperate.
I went to the local Honda motorcycle shop, and ordered an oil filter from an early 750 four (part number 15410-426-010).
Got the old filter off, and installed the new one. The diameter was the same, and the hole in the middle was the same, but it was about 1/4" taller than the original one, so when the housing was replaced, the fit was not right, and there was an oil leak. So, the old filter's back on, and I'm out looking again. I had no luck in finding a Wix filter. Any other suggestions? Surely, there has to be another Honda bike filter that will work. What do you all use?
Thanks!

I have the answer to all your problems and have oil coolers ready to send
out if your interested. The only modification is to the Oil Filter cap and
center bolt.

Honda 600 sedan '72 - one of the cars that spent several months in the san diego auto museum in 2000.
i have been using the 'bill colford oil cooler/filter system' for 20 years and IT WORKS GREAT!!! it has a filter that is readily available at NAPA and your oil it kept cool - engine temp stays around 190 degrees F

Bill,
What is the cost of your oil filter/cooler system. I would like to put
one on my '72N600.
