Misfire

Post by a65tigrr »

After 8 months, I finally got my motor back together.
I runs, but going down the road, when I get the rpm's
up it starts to misfire and buck. I can get up to
aboutMPH mph in first before it starts doing this. I
changed timing, I changed point gap, didn't help. I
have new plugs, plug wires, points and condensor. Any
ideas?

Reset the valves. They are most likely to tight.

Greg,I think you'll need to "double-check" your cam timing,assuming
the carb and ignition, whern't changed. Did you set the static
ignition timing? With the "F" mark on crank pulley, the points should
just "brake-open",verified by attachining a test light between the
wire that exits the points, and ground. Using a 12v. test light,(the
type w/ a pointy probe},probe the wire exiting the points, and then
loosen the vacuum advance bolt(10mm head) and move it towards the
bumper, then slowly move it towards the firewall, when the test light
lights, points are open and motor timed.
