To "65 chevy pickup,I asked once, but the best fix I came up with
was to cut a piece of rubber to fit in place between the steel shell
and the piece that's supposed to be suspended by those two
rubber "bars". It should be a tight fit, and then drill a hole
through it so you can wire it in place! I still have mine after 5
years of use.
