72 Sedan fuel sender ohm reading gauge not reading correct

Hello all , My fuel sender is only reading 3/4 tank on the gauge when its full , I pulled the sender and put a multimeter on it , it shows 4.2 ohms at empty and 131 ohms at full , does anyone out there know if this reading is correct and maybe my gauge is the problem ?   thanks so much for any input   cheers Dean M / Santa Cruz CA

According to the manual, normal is between 30 and 34 ohm for sender. Gage resistance should not exceed 100 ohms

Iam a retired ford tech,i use to check the guage by turning the key on unplug the sender goes to empty,  ground the hot wire at sender goes to full if so guage is good sender or wiring  bad. May be other way around with e and f . Dont do this unless someone more familiar  with this car says  its ok

Correction ,if goes from e to f guage  and wiring  good sender bad
