I like the looks and smiles . . . but our local police love silence more, and will tag me, given the chance.

Bill, do you think there will be any heat issues? Seems like there is a heat shield on that original center pipe, though the parts book shows a more tubular center pipe for the later vin numbers, without the heat shield.

I wouldn't think so, the correct installation leaves room between the body and the muffler.  If it is installed touching the body it would be corrected before much heat could do any damage.
