All;
    No, the cam shaft on the coupe will work on the sedan, not the reverse unless you don't want the tach to work.

Kevin;
        A few years back I needed a good cam for a coupe engine I was rebuilding.  I did the same thing your suggesting, it is more than a simple set of threads the end of the cam.  The drive shaft for the tach is counter sunk and requires an exact fit with the additional set of 6mm X 1.0 pitch threads in the bottom of that.  The shop I took it to said the cam was so hard that when they were finished the recessed opening was 2 thousandths over the requirement which would cause a vibration at the end of the tack drive shaft when it is at speed.
        You may come across a machine shop that is better, but I doubt it, this shop is contracted by the military for Air Industry tooling.  But because the cam had been heated and cooled so many times it became so hard that normal cutters wouldn't do the job.   They did it for me because I knew them and it is rare that a part comes in with these challenges.  I used some 1 thousandth shim stock to wrap around the cam drive shaft and it worked very well.  If they had to charge me for the job it would have been expensive.
        What I am saying here is that the cost of the repair may be more than the need requires.  There are lots of Coupe type cam shafts out there.  Make sure the cam is good by measuring the lobes, wear areas of the shaft ends and how deep the valleys are between the teeth on the center gear.  All of which affect the final outcome of the end product.   The shop manual has these measurements and it's much easier to measure while the engine is apart.
Have fun
Bill
