Does anyone know how to get rid of that 38 year old Honda smell?
The carpet and pads have long been out of my 71 AN600 but some old smell remains. I think it is coming fron the seat foam. Is there any air freshioner or other treatment to make my car smell better?

Re: That old Honda smell
There is foam in the headliner, the back seat bottom foam is exposed, the back seat back is sealed up pretty much. Maybe something stuck in your fresh air vents? Some of the seats have foam with rubber diaphram and some have the jute and wiggly springs.
My Honda Prelude has that old moldy carpet smell and everyone told me to use Febreeze. It works for a day then the smell returns. I found some carpet deoderizer that seems to work well. I think it has some desecant in it and some smelly good stuff.

Re: old Honda smell
Friend;
You have an old paint smell, maybe even some mildew. Remove everything, wipe every painted surface with something like Grows Super Clean, will not harm the paint and you can pick it up at most professional auto paint stores. Then, get them to mix you up a couple of spray cans of your cars color and after taping every thing off, repaint the interior. It will smell like new again. Then if you change the covers on your seats they too will smell like new. But really the new car smell comes from new paint and contact cement from the interior.
