It is unfortunate the head was not fixed in the area of the chain slipper. At this point,
I would probably clean the area needing repair with a solvent and use a cold weld compound
such as JB Weld to make the repair. Then you would have a good cylinder head.
My experience has been that most machine shops would have missed fixing this area. If the
shop was used to doing automotive heads and was not familiar with the Honda 600, they would
not be looking at this section of the head when doing a "head job".
