the "tired puppy" is barking!!! it was the spark plugs... i went and got the factory sparkplugs and turned it over and it started... the carb even worked. ran it for 10 seconds and then let it idel for ten. then turned it off. it was smooth even without a muffler. no knocking or anything. i think it is great and i must thank all for your support. i was very surprized how smooth it was even though i made sure that every thing was lubercated before starting, it started as if it had not been sitting sense it was reg in 87. now i can try to get the brake system done, but now i don't mind doing work on the "tired puppy"... again thanks dean
