In need of a cooling fan

Post by geez_tech »

Hi All,
Does anyone here have a good used cooling fan for the engine laying
around?
I found mine to be missing half of a blade.

Thanks Doug,
That is an interesting idea if I can find one small enough and with a good CFM rating.

Thanks Scott,
Can you e-mail me a picture of it? Is this just the fan blade or the whole assembly with the housing, bearings, pulley, etc?
The Haynes manual mention that the pulley is a interference fit and you can’t re-use it, but you also can’t get new pulleys anymore. Has anyone else been down this road before with disassembling the fan from the housing and re-using the pulley?

I used one from a Honda GL1000 about a 1975 Vintage. Bust out the
veins and it bolts right in using it's original sheetmetal housing
parts. I used mine for 20 years, I think I let it go with either
Dinky or my 600 pick up truck.
The GL1000 blade is just the right size. The fan will run either
direction.
P.S. Free Decal for attendees, day of the Meet !

Yes, exactly the one. Just cut off a majority of the sheetmetal until
you have 3 mounting tabs, drill the tabs & housing in 3 places. On
mine, I also cut about 1 1/2" off the housing at the back to give it
a lower profile.
Maybe we can get Betsy H. in Savannah to send a photo, I don't have
one.

Miles,
Isn't the GL-1000 the same bike that uses a similar carb rebuild kit for the 600?
