I just got a huge email from eBay saying that buyers can no longer
use Checks or Money Orders to pay for items. I have to tell you this
really sucks as some of you pay that way.
The new policy goes into force November 1st 2008. Most people pay me
with PayPal anyway but not everyone knows PayPal charges fees to
anyone who has a Premier Account such as myself. The fees can get
steep and combined with the eBay fees detract from the sale.
I would suggest anyone who want to buy something from me that wants
to pay by M.O. please make a list of the items you are looking for,
email it to me *off list* and I will deduct 10% from the regular
items I sell and give you a better price on the other items you are
looking for if I have them. Here's part of the email I got:
What will happen if I ask a buyer to use a prohibited payment method?
Requesting prohibited payment methods from your customers either by
email or in your item description is a violation of the new Accepted
Payments Policy. Violations of this policy may result in:
Listing cancellation
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Limits on account privileges
Loss of PowerSeller status
Account suspension
Also, don't forget about the Vintage Honda Rendezvous Sept 6th 2008
at my house in Boulder Creek Ca 95006, This is the 2nd notice !

Miles,
Ebay tried to do the same thing here in Australia in July but failed
because it breached regulations to due with competition. Ebay are
still trying to get it through but will struggle here. I'm sure you
are well aware that Ebay owns Paypal.
Mark.

Well here goes another freedom. I say we boycott e-bay and tell them we will not purchase anything from them if this action goes into effect. Hell with them, they depend on us not the other way around and the sooner they find out about it the better.

Re: New eBay Regulations & 600 Meet
Better late than never.... Bill,
Alot of us jumped ship back in May, when greedbay, and their lil dog fraudpal, instituted new fee structures and feedback policies.
There's no doubt that sellers on sleazebay made it what it is, but it's always been a buyers market. Decreased listing fees plus increased final value fees = screw the seller!
Throw in non-paying bidders that can still leave negative feedback - when the seller can't !?
.....and fraudpal is a flippin' scam !!! Holding the funds til the buyer receives their purchase, then the buyer claims not as described and receives a refund for returning a box of rocks!
The only way I sold on greedbay was with payments by checks or MO.... and without that option - I have no option - but to bid a final adue to sleazebay.
With the hopes it goes the way of Enron .... and implodes!
