Auto Shipping Advice? How to ship Z600 from Arizona to Ohio?

Post by ian_crosley »

Hello All,
I just purchased my first Z600 from a guy in Tucson, AZ and need to
figure out how to get it shipped to Akron, OH. I'm nervous about using
just any auto shipping company because I'm worried that 44" wide
wheeltrack will be too narrow to fit on the tracks of a regular car-
carrying semi.
Any Advice?
Has anyone used a shipper to transport a Z600 or other microcar that
they could recommend? Or is anyone on the forum with a trailer looking
to make a similar trip that I could possibly hire? Thanks! -Ian

I had mine shipped from salt lake city to Anacortes Washington, it was close, but they definitely fit on the car carrying semi's! They're just very careful driving them on and off...
Good luck,

Don't know if this will work for you, but I had an N600 shipped up from
North Carolina to east of Cleveland, OH for only $250 by finding someone on
Craig's list who was advertising that he was making regular north-south runs
with his pickup truck. It took some persuasion to convince him it would
fit, but he eventually agreed to try and slid the car right into the truck
bed (backwards, as the back axle with tires will just squeeze between the
wheel wells in a pickup).
That was a couple years ago when gas was less than $3 per gallon. Also the
car had no engine, so was very light, you might need a 3/4 ton pickup to
handle the weight of one with an engine hanging off the back.

Auto Shipping Advice? How to ship Z600 from Arizona to Ohio?

On February 4, 2007 I had my Z600 shipped from Dallas,Texas to Long Island. It cost $550.- The name of the trucking company is Reliant Auto Transport. Their phone # is XXX-XXX-XXXX. I gave them the dimensions of the car and they provided me with a fith wheel trailer that handles my needs. The car arrived in a few days of pickup and besides being very dirty, it was all there.
The track dimensions are as follows: 45.87 inches in the front, 44.29 inches in the rear. I told them 46 inches and they used a trailer with an extra center track. Good luck and let me know if I can help you with anything else.
